Several years ago I restored a 1970 Corvette as my first attempt restoring a car. I did a pretty good job at restoring the Vette (wining a few awards). During the restore of the Corvette I learned what works, and what does not work, and I wanted to give it another try with a new (old) car.

So one day while riding my road bike, I passed by a large fenced in lot with many old cars just waiting to be seen. So after riding by several more times I found that the front gate was open and I went in to find out about all the cars, and the person who owns them all.
The man's name is Darol Woolley and what a really nice guy he is. Darol told me about almost everyone of the cars he had and where he got the car, and why he got the car. One day while looking at all Darol's cars I stumbled across this one, and thought it was a perfect car for me to restore. After a few more times of talking to Darol, he agreed to sell me the car.

The car, a 1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie 500 with a 352 under the hood has been sitting in the same spot since Darol dragged it home in 1993, and I think the last time the car was on the road was around 1990.

(check out no valve covers. Darol told me he bought the car that way).

So here are some of the ideas I was thinking about for the car:

- strip the car down.
- Pull the body from the frame.
- Pull motor from car.
- Pull transmission from car.
-Pull all the interior out.
- Then upgrade to disc brakes in front, and bigger drums in back.
- Air Ride front and back.
- All suspension and frame parts painted.
- Body fixed and painted.
- Interior redone.
- Engine rebuild as well as the transmission.
- New stereo.

(Here is the car today after being pulled out of it's 16 year resting spot).

So project "Galaxie" starts today and over the next months, I will be doing work on the car, and posting pictures of my progress as it goes. I look forward to letting you know how I am doing, and what has not worked out as well.
